A1 verbs are the 100 most frequently used Spanish verbs in everyday speech. Linguists estimate that just these 100 verbs account for over 70% of verb usage in everyday conversation. If you're a complete beginner, this is your entire vocabulary priority for the first month.

How to study A1 verbs
- Start with ser and estar — they are Spanish's two "to be" verbs and appear in almost every sentence
- Learn the present tense first; it covers present, future intentions, and habitual actions
- Prioritise yo and tú forms — these are used most in conversation
- Group verbs into regular -ar, -er, and -ir patterns; most A1 verbs follow one of these
